I'm Melissa, owner of Melissa's Management & Consulting. Under this brand, I offer state management services for the self storage industry. My career in storage began in 2008 as a facility manager. In 2017 I took on the role of VP of Operations for a privately owned company. In that role, I helped grow the company from two to over 35 facilities owned and managed across Tennessee, Kentucky and Florida. 

 

While all that was going on, I was also working closely with the Tennessee Self Storage Association (TNSSA). I was hired by them in 2014 to work in an official capacity as their association director. My love for the association side of things grew and in 2018 I started my management company specifically focused on state association management. I currently manage the Tennessee and Louisiana state associations. These roles have given me an unparalleled perspective on the industry's challenges and opportunities. 

 

As a passionate educator, I share industry best practices through speaking engagements. I have spoken at several state and national self storage conferences, sharing my knowledge on operations, training, customer service, and more. My presentations are drawn from my extensive industry experience, aiming to empower attendees with insights to enhance their own self-storage practices. I also use my experience in state management to organize beneficial events and educational opportunities for our members and the wider self-storage community. I co-host the monthly Gabfocus webinar with my good friend, Tommy Nguyen of StoragePug and the weekly Gabfocus Podcast with my husband, Josh Huff.
